I feel so privelaged to have known John from when both he and Margaret welcomed me into the family when I married Johnny. John was always welcoming and kind. It didn’t take long for me to feel like I was a loved part of their extended family, even though I was an ‘inlaw’, as they both treated me like one of the family, celebrating with me in the good times and caring for me when I went through hard times. It was not hard to love John and Margaret Ryan.
I am grateful for the example that John Sr set his son, my husband, in his steadfast love, devotion and respect for his wife Margaret, for his example as a hard worker and for his love for his family. Johnny often spoke over the years of how he wanted to live up to his Dad’s example of what it was to be a good man. He held that example in high regard and used it as a model for how he should be as a husband, a father and as a worker. John was, and always will be, a shining example of a good man, a gentleman who had a kind word for everyone and gave that kindness to his family and his local community. Although his light has gone out, he has left behind an indelible mark on all those who were privelaged to know him. -
I did not know John. But if John could raise Gerard, a caring, generous, hardworking and loyal man (and intelligent enough to pick Barb as his life partner) then John was indeed a fine man. Sending our love and deepest sympathy.❤⚘
