Some people just can’t help making a difference in our lives. By simply being who they are, they make the world a little brighter, a little warmer, a little gentler, and when they’re gone we realise how lucky we are to have known them. Our condolences to all the family at this time. We will meet up when we eventually will be able to say our goodbyes to Joy and remember her life , well – lived. .

Mum passed away on the 22nd August 2020 aged 88 years.
Born at just 27 weeks gestation you were sent home in a shoe box. Your mother asked the nurse, “What shall I name her”? The nurse replied, “If she survives call her ‘Joy'”. With a strong heart and stronger mind you did survive. You overcame physical and mental abuse as was common back then.
My memories of growing up both good and bad will never disappear. We stood side by side in the hallway and we survived.
At 88 years and 7 months you can now join your love Eric & your family.

You and Uncle Eric were the architects of one of my happiest childhood memories. A trip from Queensland to Melbourne with my Dad, my first experience of twilight, a pretty night dress and being fussed over in a way, that made me feel special. Those simple gifts you gave have lived on for decades. Over the years the visits, too far apart, too brief but cherished no lesser for it. I don’t really have words for the simple beauty of what you so freely offered to me and others. May your forward journey be a peaceful and happy one.

It’s been a very long time since we last saw you when you visited our mother Lorna. Our sincere sympathy is extended to Kay, Kim, Leigh and their families. She will be sadly missed by all.

To my dear, cheerful, funny and witty, wonderful Aunty Joy.
You always made me laugh, and when times got tough we happily had a sherry or two together, usually in Wagga or at the Kings Own Hotel / Motel at The Rock, where we caught up with old friends, and tended the family grave in which your Mother and some of your sisters are laid to rest. You happily showed my daughter Zoe and I photos of our ancestors, and told us whatever history you knew. I cherish the knowledge and photos that you have given me.
Your 80th birthday celebration was a highlight for me. It was quite “the occasion”. You thoroughly enjoyed it, even though it had been a lot of hard work.
It enabled me to catch up with many cousins that I’d lost touch with. May your passing be a catalist I need to make contact with them once again. My sincere condolences to all your family at this very sad and difficult time.

Aunty Joy, you were such an important person in my life, from welcoming me into your home (with you and Uncle Eric) when I was just 17; to the day you drove me to the hospital when I went into premature labour with the twins in 2003.
You were ever generous and always there for me when I needed you. They were right when they said there would be ‘joy’ if you lived. Thank you for all you did for all for all of us, and thank you for being rock I needed during those really tough times. xx

My wonderful Auntie Joy. You were always so stylish and so loving and made it to every family wedding and funeral no matter how difficult it must have been for you to get there. I am glad you had such big joy filled 80th and that I could come. I am sorry to have not seen you while you were in the nursing home. I hope you passed peacefully and that you are reunited with my mum and all the others you love who have gone before you. You memory will live on.
