Uncle John and Aunty Robbie were and will always remain legends. Our grief at the loss of Johnny is tempered by the deep grief of Anthony, Joanna, James, and Georgie. We didn’t get to see much of him, however, our frequent phone calls will be so deeply missed. Johnny and Brett had many the late night chat, topics many and varied, howls of laughter, putting the world to rights and inevitably talking about the kids and grandkids. I could go on and on but words just don’t cut it.
Vale Johnny, much loved and deeply missed.
Janny, Brett and all our family xx -
Anthony, Joanna, James & Georgia, my thoughts are with you today and I am sad I can’t be there in person to celebrate the life of Uncle John. The memories of time spent in Mortlake with him and Auntie Robbie are so vivid even though I was pretty young. That is a reflection of what memorable people they were. They are together now and May they Rest In Peace.
All my Love,
Erin Laws (O’Brien) -
Johnny, you were a one in a million treasure! That Moustache, will definitely be missed and I’m sure TAB will be missing your visits. I know we all will miss your tips on a day out at the races.
Go join Robbie, and both of you smile down upon the wonderful children and grandchildren you have left for all of us to treasure going forward. Vale John Gill!
Gilly (Anthony), Joanna, Jimmy and Georgie and extended families. Thinking of you all and sending lots of love and thoughts!

Johnny we will never forget your talents and character, an amazing footballer from way back in primary school at St.Colmans to Mortlakes’ 1975 Grand final win, I can still see No.23 I reckon dashing down the wing. You were a salt of the earth human mate, back now with Robbie, we will be streaming from Geelong,
Kindest Regards to you all. Marcus and Jude Wilson -
