John, you were such an inspiration to me you treated me like your own daughter. I would pop in and I would say hello you would always greet me with G,Day and that infectious cheeky smile. I could not have asked for a better father in law. To miss you is an understatement.
Keep running that sandstone poppy and I promise I will tell the boys to make sure its thick enough.
Love you and rest now it has been very well earned. -

Dad,
You traveled the roads in years gone past. Driving your MACK through the days to the very last mile. Sometimes we traveled together.
Now it is time to make your final run, your work is over and you can rest in peace.
We carry your heart with us, we carry it in our hearts!
Love, your daughter Kim, Grandson Ryan and Granddaughter Tara. -
Buckingham John:
Loved nephew of Alan and Lorna Howard both deceased.
Cousin of Gwen and Robert, Wendy and Warren, Eric and Dot and Pam and Peter and all their families.
Rest in Peace John. -
This week my heart shattered! My beautiful poppy decided he needed to rest!
A man of few words, but when he spoke it was always something funny and cheeky!
All the memories, teaching me how to drive hilda, the trasky, going for random school holiday trips in the Mack and just generally walking across the creek to come and see you.
It’s not going to be the same walking through the glass door not seeing your huge smile when the kids and I come bounding through.
You loved your grand kids and great grand kids more than anything, but we loved you more!
We will love you always.

Memories of John. – loving sister Helen.
“Tomato Sauce on a 3 course meal, Dad chastised him when he went to put it on his dessert.”
John got a Daisy Air Gun for Xmas so unknown to Mum he took Judith with him over to Piper’s paddock which was at the end of Silvester St (where Brian Pekin & other houses are now).
Grandma Buckingham used to put her cows there at times. John came home with a dead magpie & his gun in one hand and holding Judith’s hand with the other one. Judith was only 3 years old. Poor Mum nearly had a fit.
Dad had a BSA motor bike which was our only way of travel when l was young. I would sit on a cushion on the petrol tank and John would sit on a cushion between Dad & Mum.
Out at Uncle Dave’s farm at Glenfyne one time John tried to walk across the crust on the pig dung & fell in it. My cousin Peggy had to pull him out. She took him down to the wash house in a shed, stripped off his clothes & washed him in the big trough. John was only 4 years old, his clothes stunk so much that Mum finished up burning them.
Forever in my thoughts,
Love, your sister Helen. -
My Poppy John
I’ve really struggled over the passed week to sum up Johnny Buck what I’ve come to realise you can’t really sum him up, you can just admire what he has done over the years and what defines him as a Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, a Proud Family Man.These are the things I’ll cherish the most about Poppy John
One last load of gravel for Pudd.
One last time we see the Mack coming down Red Hill.
One last pushed up heep with the trasky.
One last pull to start the chainsaw
One last swing of the axe
One last swig of your Tea bottle up the bush.
One last bag of spuds delivered to family
One last pumpkin to share.
One last rolled smoke.
One last cheeky grin.
One last practical joke.
One last time listening to Slim with you.
One last time to have a VB stubby with you, even though I hated VB but I never told you.
One last time we walk in your house and you’re not in your chair.
One last time to have a yawn even though you didn’t say much, just observed. One last I love you and I’ll catch ya later mate.
I’m glad you’re at peace now xo 🍻

Poppy John was one of the kindest men I have ever met. He would give anyone the shirt of his back if he could.
His generosity was limitless. He was always there to listen, to encourage us and help us achieve our dreams.
I will remember him for his strength, his work ethic, his kindness and love. I am thankful we shared many laughs right up until the end.
Poppy rest in peace, you will live on in the stories that we tell and the laughs that we have, you will be forever loved. I will forever cherish the last I love you and kiss as I walked out the door.
Our lives were so much brighter with you in it.
Lots of love Nikea, Steve, Jarvis & Elsie x
