I am so glad I got to spend a little time with Brian, prior to Christmas. As a neighbour of many year in Cooriemungle, I loved Brian and his family. We were pretty close.
What a fantastic person – musician, friend, family man, farmer, horseman, bicycle rider and many other talents. There wasn’t much he couldn’t turn his hand to.
To all his children, my heartfelt condolences. You know how I felt about Brian.Love

Brian was is and will always be a special presence in our lives.
An unexpected treasure found not so long ago and yet so quickly we could not have imagined life without him.
Visits were always special – from his warm welcome to his genuine interest and enjoyment in your company, and using his keen memory to ask about things from your last visit.
He had a mischievous streak, a twinkle in his eye and a smile that could brighten any day.
He had so many gifts and abilities and could turn his hand to anything. He showed resolve, resilience and determination in facing the many challenges throughout his long life.
His music was legendary and I will especially miss our music times together.
He leaves a legacy in the wonderful family that he loved so dearly.
He will live on in the hearts and minds of all who loved him.

Oh Brian, you will be missed. Little did I know when this beautiful, fateful connection was made that I’d meet one of my best mates. I mean… a banjo player? Seriously?! Your love and sensibility with music shouldn’t really have surprised me, but it did. And boy, did it bring joy for Mum and I! So, so many similarities between us. Your curiosity is something I’ll to take with me. Your ability to read a room, strike a meaningful conversation with anybody. An absolute gentleman with a heart of gold. That cheeky smile before saying something naughty. I’m just so glad that we had 6 good years of tea, whisky, music and conversation. And the odd rollie… In the end, I’m forever proud to say you were my Poppy.
Sending all love and condolences to the Bell clan that have so kindly welcomed us into their lives. Though we can’t be there in person today, know that I’ll be simultaneously onstage at the South Florida Folk Festival singing them songs for Brian.
Love Nige and Amy

Uncle Brian, I am so grateful that I was able to thank you personally just weeks ago. Thank you for being the best Uncle anyone could wish for, and for your constant love and support throughout my life. Your kindness meant so much to me, especially during the heartbreaking loss of my dad Billy, my brother Billy, and more recently my nephew Pat.
I will forever hold close the joy of recent times —
the shared singsong with you and your grandson Nigel,
your eyes shining with pride over that new accordion from America.
Those moments are now precious memories, filled with music and love.We send all our love and heartfelt condolences to the Bell family.
Though we cannot be there in person, please know you remain in our thoughts and prayers.Trisha, Lutz and Seb Bell-Bartels
